I have the same error from behind a corporate firewall. It all of sudden
happened after an update in December.

# _PX_DEBUG=1 proxy
If 'proxy' is not a typo you can use command-not-found to lookup the package
that contains it, like this:
cnf proxy
#zypper update
Download (curl) error for
'http://download.opensuse.org/distribution/12.1/repo/non-oss/media.1/media':
Error code: Connection failed
Error message: Failed to connect to 2001:67c:2178:8::13: Network is unreachable
Abort, retry, ignore? [a/r/i/?] (a):
If I do it manually:
#curl http://download.opensuse.org/distribution/12.1/repo/non-oss/media.1/media
openSUSE
20111105115454
1
#
It works just fine. All other apps have no issue with proxy, only zypper.
