Since I didn't have any log files of the event I decided to clone my production
partition to another one and test the cryptsetup update. All other things were
up to date. To my surprise the system booted fine after the update. So I
repeated the thing on my production partition and following this order: first
all other updates and then the cryptsetup update - everything went well and
booted fine. I have no clue as to where it went wrong the previous time, but it
went really wrong. I suspect it was the kernel update and the cryptsetup update
at the same time. Encrypted /tmp in combination with systemd is delicate as I
had experienced before, so this was possibly the cause.
