I can confirm this bug.
openSUSE 12.1, 64-bit architecture and packages
# nslookup -query=aaaa download.opensuse.org
Server: 198.152.7.12
Address: 198.152.7.12#53
Non-authoritative answer:
download.opensuse.org has AAAA address 2001:67c:2178:8::13
I have IPv6 disabled completely (no IPv6 addr on any network interface).
curl works for
http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/KDE:/UpdatedApps/openSUSE_12.1/repodata/repomd.xml
zypper does not:
# zypper refresh
