See summary. Workaround: add SYSTEMD_NO_WRAP before the line
. /etc/rc.status
in /etc/init.d/gpm. gpm then works as expected.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. install with systemd and try to start gpm without starting the actual
binary.
Actual Results:
nothing happens (except the 'redirecting to systemctl' message
Expected Results:
gpm starting
