https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=743299 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=743299#c0 Summary: Scheduled shutdown stops working properly after kernel upgrade Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 12.1 Version: Final Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: SuSE Other Status: NEW Severity: Minor Priority: P5 - None Component: Basesystem AssignedTo: fcrozat@suse.com ReportedBy: jdelvare@suse.com QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: Community User Blocker: --- If I upgrade the kernel to version 3.2, the "shutdown -P [TIME]" command stops working properly. Basically I have to run it twice for it to work, first attempt fails with the following error message in /var/log/messages: systemd-shutdownd[2391]: Got request from unprivileged user. Ignoring. The problem doesn't happen with the original 3.1 kernel from openSUSE 12.1. I found a similar report at Red Hat: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=757628 They say that the problem comes from upstream kernel change: http://git.kernel.org/?p=linux/kernel/git/torvalds/linux-2.6.git;a=commit;h=... And the fix would be in systemd: http://cgit.freedesktop.org/systemd/systemd/commit/?id=75d3fc60f88e08bf95306... Frederic, I know we don't officially support kernel 3.2 in openSUSE 12.1, but a number of users may still run that for various reasons. May I ask that the commit above is included in the next maintenance update of systemd?
