I installed gnome3 with gnome-shell extensions on opensuse 12.1 rc1 with nvidia
proprietary driver,   

The driver was installed from the Nvidia installer.

However after running gnome-shell like 8 hours and just watching a couple of
videos or listen to music the pc works very slow and htop shows that
gnome-shell uses 60% of 2GB Ram and nearly 700/2GB Swap. This is not acceptable
at all.
