--- Comment #31 from Jean Delvare 2011-09-30 07:33:48 UTC ---
It turns out that the fix shouldn't have been applied to the openSUSE 11.3
kernel, as it caused a regression there (see bug #712023). Maybe this is the
bug "Linux-Idefix" (the person in the German forum) hit. It would be great if
he/she could try booting the vanilla kernel (or the previous desktop kernel:
2.6.34.8-0.2) and confirm that his/her problems are gone.
I have reverted the fix from the openSUSE 11.3 kernel for the time being, but
left it in the openSUSE 11.4 kernel. I might revisit this decision when I am
done with the investigation. For now I am not sure if the problem is with a
specific set of hardware, the 2.6.34 kernel specifically, or a combination of
both.
