I have the same error in my HP Pavillion dv6315ea laptop with openSUSE 11.4
32-bit system (installed from custom SUSE Studio LiveCD).
I don't use pulse audio:
# rpm -q pulseaudio libpulse0 alsa-plugins-pulse
package pulseaudio is not installed
libpulse0-0.9.22-6.11.1.i586
package alsa-plugins-pulse is not installed
I have also executed to prevent pulse audio:
sed 's/PULSEAUDIO_ENABLE="yes"/PULSEAUDIO_ENABLE="no"/' -i /etc/sysconfig/sound
I also installed proprietary Nvidia drivers for graphics card – it don't
affected sound.
I tryed to add this options to /etc/modprobe.d/50-sound.conf:
options snd-hda-intel power_save_controller=1
or
options snd-hda-intel power_save=0 power_save_controller=N
but it not helped.
