https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=719292 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=719292#c0 Summary: ups-daemon does not start due to improper setting the group owner of the ups usb device Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 12.1 Version: Milestone 5 Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: SuSE Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Other AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: f.de.kruijf@gmail.com QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:6.0.2) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/6.0.2 When proper configuring the ups files in /etc/ups/ the ups-daemon still does not start. The reason is that the device /dev/bus/usb/007/002 has improper setting of the group. It is set to root, while it should be set to daemon. The reason is that the entry: # Krauler UP-M500VA - blazer_usb ATTR{idVendor}=="0001", ATTR{idProduct}=="0000", MODE="664", GROUP="daemon" is missing from the file /etc/udev/rules.d/52-nut-usbups.rules. It was available in this file in openSUSE 11.4. The UPS I have, with this Vendor-id and Product-id, is not a Krauler UPS, but a Belkin F6H350, which works OK in openSUSE 11.4 using the driver blazer_usb.
