--- Comment #10 from Alex Müller 2011-08-14 05:05:03 UTC ---
In the meantime I have updated to kernel 3.0.1. The behavior seems still to be
the same. Some more observations:
- The buzzing sound starts as soon as the driver is loaded, very early in the
boot process. It does not matter whether I boot into runlevel 3 or 5.
- The main culprit seems to be a mixer channel named "front mic boost" (under
"capture devices" in alsamixer). Reducing and disabling this channel vastly
reduces the noise, however, some background noise is still there.
- Alsamixer is a bit strange: Under "playback devices" (!) it shows two entries
for "front mic" and "back mic". One of them is fully turned on, one is at 0.
Playing around with this sliders, however, does not change the distorted noise.
