Then after ten seconds (see also the dmesg output) the screen becomes black and gets restored after that -- without mouse. I then have to switch to the terminal (Ctrl-Alt-F1) and back to get the mouse cursor visible again. I have tried to disable KMS, but that made no difference. I also tried the fglrx driver which also caused the graphics system to freeze in an even worse way. Here I had to use ssh or SysRq keys to reboot the system. I recently removed the kernel-firmware package and rebuilt the ram disk. Without the Juniper firmware, no 3D acceleration was available and I had no more freezes. I could however observe some random screen glitches like yellow vertical bars... I got rid of those effects by changing the power management profile of the graphics card (the content of "/sys/class/drm/card0/device/power_profile").
