Summary: zypper dup fails to handle libstdc++ correctly
(installed way too late)
Classification: openSUSE
Product: openSUSE 12.1
Version: Factory
Platform: Other
OS/Version: Other
Status: NEW
Severity: Critical
Priority: P5 - None
Component: Basesystem

i just did a zypper dup on factory which just upgraded from gcc4.5 to gcc 4.6
as you know. halfway during the upgrade i saw lots of scriptlet failures(that
were ignored?, of libreoffice) because the libstdc++.so.6 was not yet installed
but already needed. just recently i did a downgrade from 11.3 to 11.2 that was
hit by a similar problem that completely nuked the system.../offtopic
also I'm always puzzeled as to why zypper uninstalls packages before the
upgrade instead of after it. it seems that zypper needs a bit more
"intelligence" to not put systems at risk this much.
Reproducible: Didn't try
Steps to Reproduce:
1. upgrade factory to post gcc 4.5
Actual Results:
the libstdc++.so.6 is installed very late thus some of the actions packages do
while installing fail.
Expected Results:
libstdc++.so.6 is installed among the very first packages so that anything
needing it is installed after that
