Yes, I made a brand new installation on a new partition and created a new user.
I did not copy an existing home directory.

However, it comes to my mind that I also have KDE3 installed in addition on all
these installations. I'm using kde3pim and kdevelop3 since I find them more
convenient than the KDE4 versions, for now.

Is it possible this is due to an interaction between KDE4 and some KDE3 stuff?

I'm on a business trip this week so I have only limited chances to do some
tests.
