I really doubt that "grub-ing about" will fix the problem. Here is my
reasoning.
I have been successful in manually partitioning the raid partitions from
version 11.1 through 11.3. I did not have an issue with any of them. So it
appears that something got broken in the new release.
I hate the splash screen, so I will turn it off or disable it (via the <ESC>
key) as soon as I can.
My observations are:
After a normal system construction, the installation script will reboot the
system, as it should for configuration. During the rebooting the boot would
stop with the error message something like "error partition md124p1 failed.
switch to md124p5 Yes/No". md124p1 is my / "root" partition.
Saying no leads nowhere, just a repeat of the error. Saying yes completes the
boot to a single user.
I am sorry, but I haven't figured out how to mount a USB stick so that I can
pass along the dmesg data. I can do that easily on a SPARC or an Ultra SPARC.
But with SuSE, I need to research a little.
Anyway, I am fully convinced that someone broke the boot for this release.
