Just some background on the changes:  I went and yelled at the intel graphics
people because every distro actually carries a variant of this flicker free
transition patch, so I wanted it upstream in their tree.  The upport causes
this crash, and at least Dave Airlie agreed that the fix is probably what
they'd have to do.
