Summary: KDM is wrongly killed by timeout, when NTPD corrects
the time a lot
Classification: openSUSE
Product: openSUSE 11.4
Version: Final
Platform: x86-64
OS/Version: openSUSE 11.4
Status: NEW
Severity: Normal

User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:2.0.0) Gecko/20100101
Firefox/4.0

If during startup the time is corrected a lot (in my case 4 ours), then X is
not started by kdm, because of timeout, as /var/log/warn says:

----------
Apr 4 21:33:17 perseus kdm_config[2204]: Multiple occurrences of key
'UseTheme' in section [X-*-Greeter] of /usr/share/kde4/config/kdm/kdmrc
Apr 5 01:33:21 perseus kdm[2010]: X server startup timeout, terminating
Apr 5 01:33:22 perseus kdm[2010]: X server for display :0 cannot be started,
session disabled
----------

Workaround:
Correct the wrong local time in the BIOS directly.

Reproducible: Always
