https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=683504 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=683504#c0 Summary: mounting FAT: changed mapping of lower/upper-case Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.4 Version: Final Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: Basesystem AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: bluedzins@wp.pl QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- Facts: * FAT file system is case insensitive * Linux filesystems (e.g. ext3) are case sensitive When you mount FAT drive Linux does a little magic and show FAT directories/files names "converted" in some way. I don't want to deal what is the way -- what is important, that if there was _way_, this _way_ should be engraved in stone. No changes. But this happened -- in openSUSE 11.1 I have a lot of files seen as lowercase, now I see them in uppercase. What is the problem? From Linux POV those are completely different files, and now instead of one working project I have bunch of unrelated files. And I have several projects. So far, I noticed this for names which match the pattern \w+\d\+\.\w+ example: abc127.cs (opensuse 11.1) ABC127.CS (opensuse 11.4) -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
