https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=682590 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=682590#c0 Summary: openSUSE doesn't boot at all Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.4 Version: Final Platform: Other OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: Basesystem AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: sommerluk@gmail.com QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux i686; rv:2.0b12) Gecko/20110222 Firefox/4.0b12 openSUSE doesn't boot at all Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Do a fresh installation of openSUSE 11.4 2. Start openSUSE Actual Results: openSUSE doesn't boot at all. After choosing the normal "openSUSE 11.4" entry in the boot menu, I see: doing fast boot Creating device nodes with udev _ Nothing more happens. The computer hangs. Expected Results: openSUSE boots normally. Adding "nomodeset" to the kernel parameters solves the problem. (The "failsafe" versions was working, so I was trying out which parameter of the "failsafe" entry made openSUSE working, and it seems that it was "nomodeset".) -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
