https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=682511 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=682511#c0 Summary: nautilus "Safely Remove Drive" permanently deactivates USB devices Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.4 Version: Final Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: openSUSE 11.4 Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: GNOME AssignedTo: bnc-team-gnome@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: sbrabec@novell.com QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- How to reproduce: 1. Insert a SD card to an embedded reader. 2. Work with it. 3. Right click to the icon on the nautilus desktop and select "Safely Remove Drive" Actual result: The device is permanently disabled. There is no GUI way to reactivate it, only reboot helps. Expected result: If the device is embedded into the computer, do not allow its deactivation. Note: I am assigning this bug to GNOME because I don't know how it works. Maybe only some items are missing somewhere in the table. Affected devices are at least: ID 058f:6362 Alcor Micro Corp. Flash Card Reader/Writer This is an embedded reader connected directly to the mainboard headers. There is no way to "safely remove it". ID 0424:4060 Standard Microsystems Corp. Ultra Fast Media Reader This is an embedded reader in the Dell U2410 monitor. Purely technically it is a removable device (connection to the monitor uses cable), but it is wired together with the monitor and the USB hub inside the monitor. Nobody wants to reconnect monitor (disconnecting all devices in the hub) just to restart SD card reader. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
