Some more detail will be necessary - just supposing something is happening
isn't sufficient. Please verify your assumption (e.g. by comparing slab usage
growth when the suspected offending VM is/isn't running), and provide more than
a single snapshot of /proc/slabinfo (so we can see which of the pools is
actually growing unboundedly - the most likely candidate is slab-4096, but as
you certainly noted this one doesn't have many active objects).
Are the systems where you are/aren't having this problem otherwise identical?
I'm particularly suspicious that you might be running into the issue reported
as bug 554081 (and fixed so far only on SLE11 and master)...
