I do not have general SCSI questions, I'm familiar with SCSI
now a long time, that is more than 15 years now. I only
stated that the physical setup and also the setup in the
Adaptec BIOS is correct.

Just now the logs, after blacklisting with the kernels command line:
scsi_dev_flags=Traxdata:CDR4120:0x1,IOMEGA:ZIP:0x21,IBM:DDRS:0x1001
the system can be booted into single use mode. See next few attachements.
Switching into normal system will start udevd and this cause that
that all attached devices of the SCSI BUS of the Adaptec will be
scanned in ``brutal'' force mode causing at least a reset of the
bus. Due to the added BLIST_NOLUN (0x1) to the ZIP drive the bus
does not locked up anymore. Nevertheless it takes several minutes
also causing the udevd worker threads to run into timeouts.
IMHO it make no sence to scan a real SCSI BUS like the Adaptec one
for informations already provided at /proc/scsi/ and /proc/partitions
