I changed the line in /etc/modprobe.d/50-sound.conf to model=auto, but didn't
update my information, so I'm no longer using generic. But as you said, there
is still sound in both speakers and headphones. How do I change the model or
adjust the BIOS settings to change this?
I don't know if this is useful, but my computer dual-boots with Windows, and
when I plug headphones in to Windows I get a dialog asking me to identify the
newly plugged-in device. Selecting "headphones" mutes the speakers, but Linux
seems to quietly go with the default.
