Anyway, is the problem that this driver is not properly controlling your network connection?
What I still don't understand is how can e1000 bind to anything in the system (see comment 0 for dmesg and comment 5 for the lspci output). Are you _sure_ that you didn't run the lspci and dmesg on 2 different systems?
