https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=676895 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=676895#c0 Summary: kernel reports memory Tainted Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.3 Version: Final Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: openSUSE 11.3 Status: NEW Severity: Critical Priority: P5 - None Component: Kernel AssignedTo: kernel-maintainers@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: Curt.Blank@curtronics.com QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux x86_64; en-US; rv:1.9.2.13) Gecko/20101203 SUSE/3.6.13-0.2.1 Firefox/3.6.13 Started at 09:28 CST with kernel reporting tainted memory. Then starting at 12:08 CST continuous reports until 19:16 CST when I was on site to report the server. At 12:08 CST the mysql process was affected with caused 100% utilization of one core of and AMD Phenom 945 until the server was rebooted at 19:06 CST. mysql could not be shutdown or killed via a kill -9, it did go defunct but still used 100% of one core. Also, three other process that run doing data collection via three different USB port connections hung starting at 12:08 CST and also could not be killed. A "shutdown -r now" was attempted remotely but it too hung. A "reboot" was also attempted in another window and it too hung. A "init 6" was attempted in a third window and it too hung. Fist process to report a problem was "convert", second process to report a problem was "kswapd0" and then finally "mysql" which made the server useless until it could be rebooted. Load average was 11 from ~12:08 CST when this started until ~15:00 CST then jumped to 37 and remained at 37 until the server was reset (munin was still collecting data), and had to be rest by pushing the "Reset" button on the server. Normal load average is in the 0.30 to 0.60 range. IO subsystem is an Areca ARC-1220 caching raid controller with battery backup, disk IO subsystem was not experiencing any problems, all mount points and files were accessible. Reproducible: Didn't try Steps to Reproduce: 1. 2. 3. Actual Results: Don't want to really try to reproduce it, it did enough damage on it's own. Attached is a file containing all the stack traces from messages. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
