--- Comment #4 from Johannes Meixner 2011-02-04 14:13:35 UTC ---
Currently the hpaio scanner driver (provided by HPLIP)
is not activated in /etc/sane.d/dll.conf
and then no scanning can work, see "SANE Backends" at
http://en.opensuse.org/SDB:Configuring_Scanners
As root un-comment the "hpaio" line in /etc/sane.d/dll.conf
(i.e. remove the leading '#') so that it looks as follows:
---------------------------------------------------------------
# The hpaio backend is provided by the hplip package:
hpaio
---------------------------------------------------------------
This activates the hpaio scanner driver and then
scanning should again work.
Alternatively use the YaST scanner module to activate
this driver manually.
Usually the activation of the hpaio scanner driver happens
via some special udev magic.
I don't know why the magic didn't work in your particular case
but usually it works so that I close the issue as "worksforme".
