I've been testing this by pretending my VM is a tablet, thusly:
sudo hal-set-property --udi /org/freedesktop/Hal/devices/computer --key
system.formfactor.subtype --string tabletpc
The problem with the original patch is that the gnome-screensaver can kill
(sigterm) the gnome-screensaver-dialog process. When that happens,
gnome-screensaver-dialog does not get a chance to kill xvkbd.
I also found an unrelated bug that would result in the xvkbd PID being killed
twice, potentially harming an innocent process (unlikely, though).
