Summary: Authentication Window Does Not Appear When Connecting
to Internet
Classification: openSUSE

Version: Milestone 5 of 6
Platform: x86-64
OS/Version: SuSE Other
Status: NEW
Severity: Major

Version/11.00

In KDE Factory, after setting up a wireless internet connection through the new
network plasmoid, the plasmoid's tooltip says that it's waiting for
authentication to connect to the internet, but no authentication window pops
up. Essentially, the user is locked out using a wireless connection.

This happens after an install of openSUSE 11.4 M5. I will double check to see
if it happen even when in liveCD mode.

I have checked for this issue, when running openSUSE 11.3 with KDE Factory, and
Kubuntu with the KDE PPA, but this issue does not exist in these two cases. It
seems to be a KDE Factory problem in openSUSE 11.4 M5.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Install openSUSE 11.4 M5
2. Setup a wireless connection (store the wireless key if asked to do so)
-> I use a wireless key myself, and the Network Manager needs administrator
privileges to access the wireless key. I think this is where the problem lies.
3. Hover your mouse over the network plasmoid when it tries to connect
(automatically if you set it to do so or just connect regularly by selecting
you new connection) and see what if anything happens
