--- Comment #6 from laughing man 2010-11-24 02:48:36 UTC ---
Did a bit of googling, and was able to resolve the issue by turning on cool 'n'
quiet in the bios. that made the _pss table available to the kernel.
Now system performs shutdown correctly, boots up without firmware bug warning,
and what's more:
# mdadm --create --verbose /dev/md0 --level=5 --raid-devices=3 /dev/sda1
/dev/sdb1 /dev/sdc1
mdadm: layout defaults to left-symmetric
mdadm: chunk size defaults to 64K
mdadm: layout defaults to left-symmetric
mdadm: /dev/sda1 appears to be part of a raid array:
level=raid5 devices=3 ctime=Wed Nov 24 10:07:59 2010
mdadm: layout defaults to left-symmetric
mdadm: /dev/sdb1 appears to be part of a raid array:
level=raid5 devices=3 ctime=Wed Nov 24 10:07:59 2010
mdadm: layout defaults to left-symmetric
mdadm: /dev/sdc1 appears to be part of a raid array:
level=raid5 devices=3 ctime=Wed Nov 24 10:07:59 2010
mdadm: size set to 1465134912K
Continue creating array? y
mdadm: array /dev/md0 started.
