Summary: OBS appliance VmWare images have multiple problems on
startup
Classification: Internal Novell Products
Product: openSUSE Build Service
Version: 2.2
Platform: VMWare
OS/Version: All
Status: NEW
Severity: Normal
Priority: P5 - None
Component: General
AssignedTo: adrian@xxxxxxxxxx
ReportedBy: nrp36@xxxxxxxxxxx

Found By: ---
Blocker: ---
User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux x86_64; en-US; rv:1.9.2.12)
Gecko/20101027 Ubuntu/10.04 (lucid) Firefox/3.6.12
The VmWare images for OBS have several problems.
1. The x86_64 version of the OBS VmWare image is set to be a 32 bit machine in
the .vmx
ERROR: You are running a 64-bit guest operating system, but the virtual machine
is configured to run a 32-bit operating system.
2. The .vmx are virtual hardware version 4, VmWare now supports at least
version 6, so it would be good to update the machine hardware version.
3. Access to the webui database on startup is denied
4. Doesn't obtain an IP address automatically (VmWare's NAT setting should do
this)
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Download latest VmWare image from
http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/openSUSE:/Tools/images/
2. Untar it and run in VmWare player
Actual Results:
I received the errors mentioned in the details
Expected Results:
Not had any errors
