I have been having the same problem, but running it in KDE.

I found that "Export to PDF" works if I only use the pen.
But as soon as I add any text, even a small text, then the program crashes with
the error message:

GLib-ERROR **: gmem.c:176: failed to allocate 140737488355328 bytes
aborting...
Aborted

The amount 140 TB (!) is exactly the same, no matter if the PDF file is small
or big or how much text I include with Xournal.
