1st, apologies -- despite your coments above, i can find no notice in my email
of any activity on this bug. my _other_ bugs notified just fine. hm. anyway
..
creating,
/etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/05-evdev-kmouse.conf with content:
Section "InputClass"
Identifier "Kensington Expert Mouse"
MatchIsPointer "on"
MatchProduct "Kensington Expert Mouse"
MatchDevicePath "/dev/input/event*"
Driver "evdev"
Option "Emulate3Buttons" "true"
Option "ButtonMapping" "1 8 3 4 5 6 7 2"
EndSection
& then,
mv /etc/X11/xorg.conf /etc/X11/xorg.conf.OLD
after logout/login, the trackball's button function/order is, now, as intended.
of anecdotal note, the time taken to login is now _significantly_ longer ...
the splash seems to 'stall' a bit (~ 15-20 secs) right before the last,
KDE-desktop step. i'll dig more to see what's ...
thanks.
p.s. somewhat related ... my old/orig xorg.conf had a stanza with a bunch of
FontPath specs. i'm assuming, similarly to what you suggested here, that a
related, FontPath-containing file in /etc/X11/xorg.conf is called for?
