But OK, if it is "expected" that
both download.opensuse.org and ftp.opensuse.org (which, to my DNS servers, are
the same IP) reply "Connection refused" without even asking for a username,
then you may close this WFM at your convenience
Using http://ftp.opensuse.org/ works as expected for me - even
http://download.opensuse.org/.
Trying ftp:// instead of http:// does not work, as we do not provide any FTP
server any longer.
FYI: the FTP protocol does not allow redirections, so every request has to be
handled by the server itself leading into bandwith problems.
But we have a huge list of mirror servers providing access to our tree via FTP.
Please have a look at
http://mirrors.opensuse.org/
to choose the one near your location. We also redirect users from
http://download.opensuse.org to mirrors with FTP servers (ftp://ftp5.gwdg.de
for example), if the users client allows this.
So closing as fixed now as the initial report is fixed.
