--- Comment #14 from Lee Matheson 2010-10-08 06:01:10 UTC ---
I had a similar problem with the 32-bit openSUSE-11.4 Milestone2 KDE liveCD on
my Intel Core i7 PC w/nVidia GTX260 graphics.
When I booted direct without any boot codes, it takes me to a KDE login screen,
and no login will work.
When I booted without any boot codes to a TEXT mode, logged in as a regular
user, and then ran 'startx' I noted KDE obtained a segfault.
When I booted with the boot code 'nomodeset' , the PC would freeze during the
loading of X window.
When I booted with the boot code 'nomodeset' to a TEXT mode. logged in as a
regular user, and then ran 'startx', X would freeze while loading.
I then tried the 32-bit openSUSE-11.4 Milestone2 Gnome liveCD. It booted
without any boot codes and Gnome ran.
This is the 3rd PC I've tested this on with nVida hardware and they all have
similar problems with the KDE live CD.
