Sorry, I am not using OpenSUSE anymore, and rpm2cpio was unable to extract
kernel-source-vanilla-2.6.36-rc5.23.1.noarch.rpm. I will try 2.6.36-rc6 from
kernel.org later. Thanks for the hint.

Yes, OpenSUSE (temporarily) lost a user indirectly because of this bug. I had
to abandon the ship after YaST silently decided to install the nvidia driver,
at which point the running kernel already had that driver, only zypper didn't
know, because it was an out-of-repo driver installation on my own out-of-repo
kernel. Result: Xorg mysteriously damaged beyond repair. Solution: Gentoo
respects my kernels.
