This was reproducible on the openSUSE 11.3 kernels - jt wasn't always a GPF,
but some sort of IO error that quite frequently required a reboot, made the
filesystems on the disk inaccessible, etc.
I upgraded to 2.6.36-rc5-23-desktop for the kernel:head repository, and the
problem seems solved; I still get messages like:
[46516.946264] xhci_hcd 0000:05:00.0: WARN: Stalled endpoint
[46552.910074] xhci_hcd 0000:05:00.0: Timeout while waiting for reset device
command
[46552.910087] usb 9-1: Cannot reset HCD device state
[46553.162591] usb 9-1: reset SuperSpeed USB device using xhci_hcd and address
2
[46553.175676] xhci_hcd 0000:05:00.0: WARN: short transfer on control ep
[46553.175807] xhci_hcd 0000:05:00.0: xHCI xhci_drop_endpoint called with
disabled ep ffff88011f1fb440
[46553.175811] xhci_hcd 0000:05:00.0: xHCI xhci_drop_endpoint called with
disabled ep ffff88011f1fb480
And some times, the number of "WARN: Stalled endpoint" messages reaches 20-50
in one or two seconds, which seems excessive, but at least no more crashes.
Should I still worry about the messages I get from the kernel here, or is that
all fine?
