--- Comment #26 from Michael Kußmann 2010-09-03 14:28:24 UTC ---
I just installed the kernel "kernel-desktop-2.6.34.4-0.1.1.x86_64.rpm" from
/update/11.3 repository. The Problem is still there: Random X freezes.
Sometimes they last over 5 seconds and occur in intervalls under 20 sec. I
can't track it down to a specific Reason. It also occurs when the system is
completely idle. It occurs with the nv, nouveau and nvidia driver... even in
vesa mode. While the freezing occurs Xorg uses 100% CPU (on one core).
My System:
NVIDIA GeForce GT240 ( or 9500GT tried both )
MSI K9N SLI V2 ( nForce 570LT SLI Chipset )
Installing Kernel 2.6.35rc3 from
http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/Kernel:/v2.6.35/openSUSE_Factory/
fixes the Problem. Who does pack that kernel?
When I install Kernel 2.6.36rc3 from HEAD repository i can't compile the nvidia
driver because of syntax errors in multiple header files. But the nv driver
runs fine. With nouveau the desktop is a bit unresponsive but nothing like the
freezes with 2.6.34 kernel.
Is there a fix available for 2.6.34 kernel? I'm kind of new here, but as status
says it is RESOLVED/FIXED i guess there's a fix somewhere?
P.S.: Tried the default kernel as well. Same result.
