Since the desktop-translations catalog is generated in one go (I assume) and
one directory cannot have two .desktop files with the same name, it might be a
good idea to assign unique id to every directory and use that as a prefix
(assuming that your problem with full path is the size increase, otherwise I
don't see a problem with that).
