This is probably because a LaTeX class or style file required by it is not available. See the Customization documentation for more information. LyX will not be able to produce output. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.Open Lyx 2.Select File -> New from Template 3.Select e.g. revtex4 Most propably the classes revtex.cls and revtex4.cls have been replaced in favour of revtex4-1.cls, however lyx does not know.
