http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=627958 http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=627958#c0 Summary: bootloader attempts to install itself, even when install summary told user it would not Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.3 Version: Final Platform: All OS/Version: openSUSE 11.3 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Installation AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: darryl.miles@darrylmiles.org QAContact: jsrain@novell.com Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 6.1; en-GB; rv:1.9.2.7) Gecko/20100713 Firefox/3.6.7 Steps: When installing openSUSE 11.3 but using LVM LV for both root and swap. The installer correctly warns when leaving the partition setup screen that the system needs a /boot on a non-LVM partition. The user can override this warning. In the summary just before the final commit to install, the bootloader/GRUB section clearly indicates that it won't be run and it is upto the expert user to sort out his/her own bootloading requirements. You then start the installation process. However later during the installation it does attempt to run GRUB and install a boot loader which promptly reports an error trying to do so. I think it should not run GRUB during the install in this situation, so user is not alarmed by the error dialog box that occurs. This installation setup is common for me when installing openSUSE into Xen DomU where all storage is managed by LVM in Dom0. Reproducible: Always Actual Results: An error/warning dialog attempts during the tail end of the installation that should not appear. Expected Results: That no attempt would be made by installer to install boot loader. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
