http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=622805 http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=622805#c0 Summary: kernel hang during upgrade from RC2 to GM Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.3 Version: RC 2 Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: openSUSE 11.3 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Basesystem AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: estellnb@gmail.com QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; Intel Mac OS X 10.6; de; rv:1.9.2.6) Gecko/20100625 Firefox/3.6.6 During the upgrade from RC2 to GM the computer started to hang and did not react any more - not even on the "Magic SysRq Keys" which I have enabled by YaST. The upgrade was performed in runlevel 3 with all services opening network sockets shut down (i.e. netstat -atupn has shown an empty list). The computer has never been connected to a network except for performing program installs and the upgrade from RC1 to RC2 in rl3-nonet mode so that a security incident does not seem to be plausible. No binary user data files have been opened as far as I remeber. This was the first time that I have experienced troubles with the kernel since I have started to test os11.3. It seemed to run reliable all the time. Is there anything I can do to find out what has happened?? Is there really no post-mortem analysis for Linux as there is for BSD?
