It seems to indicate a permission problem - 

InnoDB: The error means mysqld does not have the access rights to
InnoDB: the directory.
InnoDB: Could not open or create data files.

What does "l -d /var/lib/mysql/" say?

Remove the database directory, i.e. "rm -Rf /var/lib/mysql/<database>"
