http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=615738 http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=615738#c0 Summary: HAL missing in default KDE installation of 11.3RC1 via DVD (i386 and x64) Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.3 Version: Factory Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: openSUSE 11.3 Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: Installation AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: konstri@gmx.de QAContact: jsrain@novell.com Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux x86_64; de; rv:1.9.2.4) Gecko/20100527 SUSE/3.6.4-2.2 Firefox/3.6.4 A default KDE installation of 11.3RC1 is missing the HAL package. This is true for i386 and x64 installations. Result is (what I've seen so far at least): - AMD processors drivers (e.g. powernow-k8) for frequency scaling and temperature reading don't show up. The processor is always running at full speed. - plugin of USB devices, CDs or DVDs goes undetected - partions of HDD which are not mounted at startup but do have a valid mount point in /etc/fstab do not show up in e.g. Dolphin - Kaffeine configure TV section - one cannot select the DVB-T and/or DVB-C cards Workaround: Install HAL manually and all above issues are solved. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. finish default KDE installation 2. done Expected Results: either HAL is installed and started per default OR 11.3 has a new working mechanism providing the same functionality. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
