Just had a try on a HD 567x (1002:68d8) we received from AMD. Results:

nomodeset/VGA: X11 works, Linux console broken
nomodeset/DVI: X11 broken,Linux console broken
modeset/VGA(=KMS): X11 works,Linux console broken
modeset/DVI(=KMS): X11 broken,Linux console broken

So it might be worth a try using the monitor's VGA input instead of DVI. Alex,
is that a known issue?
