OK, yest another trace.
There appears to be some inconsistency in the messages. First I can find:

After running without an oops for 8 days, only SATA drive installed formatted
with ext4, I re-installed the 2 SCSI drives I have. The drives are formatted
with XFS and collected in an LVM2 volume. I installed the drives on Saturday
May 1, and as you can see it didn't take long for a kernel oops.
The aic7xxx scsi diver is also loaded when the drives are not installed as it
is the interface to the scanner.
I think this narrows the search a bit.
