It shouldn't, but maybe it does. Kaffeine 0.8.8 and 1.0pre3 we have on Packman
use libxine directly but 1.0pre2 uses phonon, so it's one more step.
Can you reproduce the Problem with another xine frontend (one of the packman
kaffeine package, gxine or xine-ui?)

Your listet packages seem to be up to date.

I've rebuild latest ffmpeg svn snapshot 23008 also for i586:
ftp://packman.links2linux.de/pub/packman/suse/testing/xine-cvs/ffmpeg-i586
can you check, if it fixes the problem? I would update our package if it works
with this one.
