At night, trying to sleep :-), I though at this problem and wonder if this is
not anyway a parted bug.
Parted only allowed the user to competely start a partition table from scratch,
when fdisk allowed me to remove only the offending extended partition (the
logical partitions couldn't be recovered, even though the sector limits were
restored). Like this I could recover my two primary Windows partitions, saving
a lot of work.
Parted should allow the same.
Nota: The fdisk I speak of is the "fdisk (util-linux-ng 2.16)". I fear the GNU
fdisk, based on parted libraries will have the same problem as parted?
So can you report upstream or do you want me to do?
