i have the same problem.
the copy process slows down, pausing it for a while makes it faster again when
continued. and after the files have been "copied" the device is still blocked
for some time.
flushing should be deactivated for all external devices since people expect
their files being written when the copy dialog completes - so they can unplug
the device (usually without safe removing).
i'm using opensuse 11.2 and kde 4.3.5 and the usb stick has ntfs.
cat /proc/mounts
shows
/dev/sdc1 /media/Daniel_8GB fuseblk
rw,nosuid,nodev,relatime,user_id=0,group_id=0,allow_other,blksize=4096 0 0
since i don't see any flush option i don't know if that is really the problem
but is there a way to change this behavior?
