http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=584544 http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=584544#c0 Summary: NetworkManager does not reconnect if DHCP server disappeared Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.2 Version: Final Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: Linux Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: Network AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: olaf@aepfle.de QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: Outsourced Testing Blocker: --- If the DHCP server disappeared for some time while the lease needs to be renewed the interface is marked as failed. I have a DSL router which acts also as DHCP server for the local clients. Its lease time is set to a short renew time. This DSL router is connected to a switch which has power all the time. My laptop is also connected to this switch. If the DSL router is powered off for a few hours, NetworkManager (or whatever) marks the interface as failed even if the local link does not go down. Even if I unplug the cable and plug it in again, the interface will remain inactive. I expected that on a replugin the interface can be used again. In addition, instead of marking the interface as failed, there should be some polling. Maybe the DHCP server will come back after a while. Then the network connection can be reestablished and connectivity comes back automatically. I will attach some logfiles. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
