http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=574732 http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=574732#c0 Summary: KDE4 fille home directory with huge ~/.xsession-errors Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.3 Version: Milestone 1 Platform: Other OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: KDE4 Workspace AssignedTo: kde-maintainers@suse.de ReportedBy: seife@novell.slipkontur.de QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: Community User Blocker: --- KDE4 puts lots of debugging output to stdout/stderr, which causes xsession-errors to grow to way over a gigabyte in about 10 days. This is an effective way to DOS the user's home directory, since there is no way to get rid of the file short of rebooting / logging out and back in (which is basically the same as far as user experience is concerned). I suggest to redirect the output to /dev/null, as nobody is going to read such huge amounts of log messages anyway, or to remove all this debug output from the KDE applications. If this is not acceptable, then writing to a separate logfile which can be rotated properly is required to avoid having to reboot the machine once a week. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
