http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=573389 http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=573389#c0 Summary: race in gnome-session start Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.2 Version: Final Platform: Other OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: GNOME AssignedTo: bnc-team-gnome@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: ensonic@sonicpulse.de QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; de; rv:1.9.1.6) Gecko/20091201 SUSE/3.5.6-1.1.1 Firefox/3.5.6 Since about a week, gnoem session does not boot fully to the desktop reliably anymore. Often I only get the wallpaper activated and nothing else ecomes visible. When I check from the console, it appears that the needed apps are running though (e.g. nautilus and gnome-panel). Reproducible: Sometimes Steps to Reproduce: 1. log in from gdm 2. in most cases (all the time right now) the session loads, but only the wallpaper is changes and nothing else appears Actual Results: no panel and desktop icons visible, desktop is no operable (no context menus etc.) This is the pstree output for gnome-session: What is weired is that the session is using metacity (I double checked from the files in .config/gnome-session/saved-session and also .config/autostart). Also the log from the session does not indicate what is starting compiz. In the cases where the session load, it also runs metacity. I was using compiz before (suse <11.2, but since 11.2 I cannnot get it to start reliably - the desktop effect chooser does work). gnome-session-+-bluetooth-apple |-compiz-manager-+-compiz---gtk-window-deco | `-compiz-manager---fusion-icon |-gnome-do---gnome-do---3*[{gnome-do}] |-gnome-panel |-gnome-volume-co |-kerneloops-appl |-nautilus |-polkit-gnome-au |-python |-ssh-agent `-{gnome-session} -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
